The estate of a drunk driver who was allowed to drive his car intoxicated by his publican, has sued publicans Concepta and Seamus Kelly for allowing him to get in his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The estate of John Connolly decided to take the claim after he was killed while driving home from the pub three times over the legal alcohol limit.
The accident, which happened in late afternoon, occurred after Connolly had been drinking at the Diamond Bar in Tullaghan, Co Leitrim since mid-morning.
Another party involved in the car crash which killed Connolly, Mary Flanagan, settled her claim for minor injuries for €250,000.
