Child awarded Compensation for Post-Traumatic Stress

A seven-year old girl who suffered years of post-traumatic stress when a bicycle fell from a shelf 14 feet above her head in a Smyths toy shop has had a claim for compensation for post-traumatic stress approved in court.
Circuit Court President, Mr Justice Matthew Deery, heard in the Civil Court that Katie Campbell had suffered nightmares and showed signs of anxiety ever since the incident which occurred when she was two.
Smyths Toys Ltd offered €10,000 in compensation which the family agreed to and the judge approved in court.
